Bill and Sandy Fifield have been residents of Conifer, Colorado and successful artists and teachers since 1970.  Their artistic collaboration at fifield’s, THE STUDIO has successfully produced 40 years worth of one-of-a-kind pieces of art.  They specialize in Custom Architectural wood carvings, uniquely commissioned doors,  twig furniture, and stained, beveled or fused glass.

Bill is a designer, artist and craftsman who delights in solving problems in wood. Using master woodworking techniques and folk art methods, his pieces are ingenious and delightful. Everything from entry doors, desks, tables and chairs to handcarved gun cases, mantles, pillars, lecterns and corbels all of which can include Sandy’s stained or fused glass.   Most recently Bill has been exploring twig furniture.  First building a spruce or pine case for a grandfather clock, trunk or cabinet, the surface decoration of twigs are then applied in a pattern.  Alder, willow, silver aspen, or dwarf dogwood combined with bark paper or  birchbark make  the finished product a thing of joy
 
The intricacy of Sandy's stained glass is facilitated by her background as a maker of fine jewelry and by the use of the copper foil method of construction. This painstaking technique has permitted the exquisite delicacy for which her birds, landscapes and florals have become known.  Also a master beveler, years of technical refinement lie behind the graceful swirls, elegant panels and gleaming highlights of her beveled glass panels.   Recently her interest has turned to fused glass.   These works hang on the wall or are incorporated into Bill’s furniture and reflect any ambient light available. The most amazing trout, landscapes, bowls and candleholders have emerged confirming her mastery as an artist.
